Amanda Wakeley has been drawing a steady stream of style insiders to her store on the Fulham Road since launching her label in 1990. Known for her beautifully draped evening gowns, Wakeley designs for every body—fans ranging from Queen Rania to Helen Mirren can attest to that!

With her Rajasthan-inspired spring/summer 2010 collection, Wakeley presented a mix of dhoti-style trousers, flashes of shimmering embroidery and draped gowns reminiscent of the finest saris.

A recent collaboration with of-the-moment Danish shoe designer Camilla Skovgaard yielded the ultimate summer party shoe—striking heels rendered in zebra-print ponyskin and chocolate brown, complete with Skovgaard’s trademark comfy rubber sole.

“This is truly a shoe for women designed by a woman,” explained the designer, “Supremely sexy but utterly comfortable. I know that I for one will be living in these shoes this summer!”

In Istanbul and in need of a quick fashion fix? H&M has just announced plans to open its first Turkish location in November 2010.

In Istanbul and in need of a quick fashion fix? You’re in luck, because Swedish fashion megachain Hennes & Mauritz (that’s H&M to you) just announced plans to open its first Turkish location in November 2010.

The store is going to be a huge deal—really huge, with 2,300-square meters of space in anchor position in the Forum Istanbul shopping centre. That leaves plenty of space for the rails of sequinned mini-dresses, bright tank tops and trend-sensitive work wear we rely on.

The chain already has eight stores in the Middle East, having opened three in Beirut last October. Its next big territory? All you Amman fashionistas, start counting down to 2011, when H&M opens its doors in Jordan.

Until then, Istanbul is only a quick flight away…
