TALA SAMMAN is a London based fashion student and avid fashion blogger, writing about the ever-changing fashion industry. We had a quick chat with her about her new life here in London.

Why did you choose to study fashion Promotion at LCF?
I knew it was the course I could do well in, a lot of the projects vary and at the moment I’m doing 12 different subjects all focusing on fashion promotion, styling and photography and having just exploring the different fields.

What do you like about living in London?
For the first time I’m living alone and gaining independence which is good for me, I’m learning a lot of things like how to live responsibly etc. I also love the people’s street style around the city It’s a different scene here than in Dubai where everything is pretty closed off. In London I can gain more creative freedom that was never possible in Dubai.

Were you born in Dubai?
No actually I was born in Illinois, Chicago in America but moved to Dubai when I was very young. I’m originally Syrian.

What are your favourite places in London?
Sumosan Bar and Restaurant in Mayfair does the best sushi! And Selfridges for shopping, it has everything in one department store I can look through the designer pieces and not have to go very far to look at the high street brands. I also love going to exhibitions in my spare time for research and personal intrigue. The last exhibition I went to see was ‘Fashion Revolution’ at Somerset House which was very insightful and I’m planning on going to ‘Future Fashion Now: New Design from the Royal College of Art’ at the V&A very soon!

Why is Alexander Wang your favourite fashion designer?
The style of his designs are very edgy and so easy to wear, I can wear them during the day casual or for going out at night and style them up according to how I feel that day.

What inspires you?
Street style mainly I love walking around London and just seeing what people wear, it’s interesting because there are so many different cultures here and everyone is original in their own individual way. I’m also a bit of an editorial geek I collect different fashion magazines every month and anything I like I rip it out and keep it for inspiration.

Are you planning to attend any of the upcoming Fashion Weeks?
Oh yes definitely, I’m going to Milan and Paris and hopefully London!
